दुधवा के गैंडों को मिलेगी नयी पहचान
दुधवा नेशनल पार्क के तीस सदस्यीय गैंडा परिवार के अब प्रत्येक सदस्य को शीघ्र ही उनकी पहचान का आईडी नम्बर अथवा नाम मिल जाएगा। इसके लिए गैंडा का कम्प्यूटर में डाटाबेस रिकार्ड रखा जाएगा। इससे गैंडों की मानीटरिंग करने में काफी सहूलियत मिलेगी। दुधवा प्रशासन ने इस योजना का प्रपोजल बनाकर सरकार के पास भेजा है। आईडी बेस्ड मानीटरिंग प्रोग्राम का संचालन कैसे किया जाएगा इसके अध्ययन के लिए दुधवा टाइगर रिजर्व के उपनिदेशक शीघ्र ही नेपाल के चितवन नेशनल पार्क का भ्रमण करेंगे।
दुधवा नेशनल पार्क में विश्व की अद्वितीय गैंडा पुर्नवास परियोजना सफलतापूर्वक चल रही है। वर्तमान में इकतीस सदस्यीय गैंडा परिवार स्वच्छंद विचरण कर रहा है। लेकिन इनकी देखरेख करने में दिक्कतें आती है साथ ही लोकेशन भी नहीं मिलती है। हालांकि हाथियों द्वारा गैंडों की मानीटरिंग की जा रही है। गैंडों की निगरानी एवं लोकेशन के लिए दुधवा प्रशासन ने गैंडों की आईडीवेस्ड मानीटरिंग प्रोग्राम बनाया है। इसका प्रपोजल सरकार को भेज दिया गया है। सब कुछ ठीक ठाक रहा तो आने वाले कुछेक समय में यहां के सभी गैंडों की पहचान के लिए आईडी नम्बर अथवा नाम दिया जाएगा। जानकार सूत्रों ने बताया मैनुअल मानीटरिंग में गैंडों की पहचान नहीं हो पाती है लेकिन जो अब कम्प्यूटर में डिजिटल डाटाबेस तैयार किया जाएगा उसमें प्रत्येक गैंडा की अलग अलग फोटो होगी एवं उसी के हिसाब से उनको आईडी नम्बर दिया जाएगा इस व्यवस्था से गैंडों की पहचान तुरन्त हो जाएगी। विशेषज्ञों के अनुसार प्रत्येक गैंडा के सींग का आकार एवं कंधे अलग अलग तरह के होते हैं जिनके फोटो लेकर कम्प्यूटर में रखे जाएगा। आईबेस्ड मानीटरिंग प्रोग्राम नेपाल के चितवन नेशनल पार्क में चल रहा है इस वजह से दुधवा टाइगर रिजर्व के उपनिदेशक गणेश भट्ट शीघ्र ही प्रोग्राम का अध्ययन करने के लिए नेपाल जाएंगे।
